Today we discussed the beginning of Book 2 of My Antonia. Students worked in small groups to respond to poems and letters from the plains. I also assigned a found poem.
The homework is to finish Book 2 of the novel.

Today we viewed the end of Branagh's Hamlet. I handed out packets which contain all the Hamlet passages for the Oral Presentations and gave groups time to work and plan. The Oral Presentations start on Thursday and Friday of this week!

Happy Second Semester!
Today I introduced themes in Willa Cather's My Antonia. We discussed the first ten chapters of Book One. I also distributed the reading schedule for the unit and gave a little biographical information on Cather.
The homework is to read chapters 11-19 (end of Book I).

Happy Second Semester!
Today we discussed the end of Act 4 of Hamlet, looking at themes of madness and contemplation vs. action. I showed part of Branagh's Hamlet, particularly Ophelia's mad scene.
I introduced the objectives for the Hamlet Oral Presentation and assigned groups and due dates.
The homework is to read Act 5. (finish the play!)
